Description

The Fraser Valley Regional District is developing a water filtration program for Norrish Creek, the principal source ofwater for the district. The filtration program involves a combination of slow sand filtration and small membrane train forthe poor quality runoff from the creek in winter. The district needs to expand the membrane treatment system so themembranes would treat more water. That expansion would save on the cost of construction, chemicals and labour. Itwould also help protect public health. The program would reduce energy use by the treatment system's operations by 2million kW hours per year. The project has been approved by federal, provincial and First Nations agencies.
