Description
This study will investigate the benefits and the costs of extending light rail rapid transit service along existing rail lines in Ottawa. The study will recommend whether to extend rapid transit service to existing and future suburban areas, or waituntil a more appropriate time. If approved, the light rail transit extension will encourage residents to use public transit tothe maximum extent possible. The study will consider station location, train frequency, vehicles, will estimate ridership,ways to integrate light rail with existing freight and passenger rail service, and will determine the cost of implementation.More public transit options will encourage people to use their vehicles less, reducing greenhouse gas production.
