Description
To ensure that a new, major sports complex in the City of Ottawa will be designed to meet C-2000 and/or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver or Gold standards, the Academic Athletic Community Partnership (AACP) - a community-based not-for-profit corporation - will hold a series of design charettes. Comprehensive energy efficiency modelling will be undertaken for both the building (approximately 270,000 square feet) and ice making processes, using Natural Resources Canada’s EE4 software. The goal is to reduce energy consumption by 50 per cent, compared to a building designed to meet the minimum standards of the Model National Energy Code for Buildings, and to reduce water consumption by 30 per cent, compared to similar facilities.
