Description
In the County of Lethbridge No. 26, the Cement Association of Canada will examine the use of efficient Germantechnology, new to Canada, to process livestock wastes and municipal wastes into biogas for use as a fuel to produceelectricity or heat. The disposal of animal wastes is a major odour problem in areas with intensive livestock operations,and the manure also produces significant methane emissions and contributes to groundwater pollution. If provencommercially feasible by the study, the implementation of the technology would substantially reduce these problems andwould provide a source of renewable energy to displace fossil–based energy.
