Description

The Town of Tracadie-Sheila will set up an anemometer tower in its industrial park to assess the electric power that could be generated by building a wind farm. The town will purchase the anemometer tower and equipment, prepare the site, analyze the wind data generated, develop communication tools, and prepare technical and financial reports. The project will lead to consultations and environmental studies, including an inventory of migratory birds. It will make it possible to define the partners’ financial structure, select a wind power supplier, negotiate the sale of electricity with NB Power and establish a business plan. Since wind-turbine power generation requires no fossil fuels and produces no greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, it is estimated that establishing a small 10 MW wind farm will reduce CO2 emissions in Tracadie-Sheila by 17,523 metric tonnes.
