Description

To achieve its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) as a member of the Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program, the Town of Hampton will complete PCP milestones 1, 2 and 3: a detailed energy audit and energy action plan for its municipal buildings and motorized vehicles. The action plan will identify energy-saving opportunities complete with capital costs, energy savings, paybacks and GHG reductions. Energy-saving opportunities may include the replacement of lighting systems, building retrofits, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, energy management control systems and water conservation measures. Conducted over a three month period, the work plan will include a comprehensive list of activities including information gathering; public consultation; data collection; energy consumption analysis; development of an energy balance model; exploration of energy saving opportunities; analysis of municipal water and wastewater systems; analysis of the municipal vehicle fleet; and completion of a local action plan. The Town estimates that by implementing energy saving measures it can reduce GHG emissions from municipal operations by 200 tonnes per year, or 20 percent.
