Description
The Village of Lytton will have its well tested and will complete the construction of a second well. The two well heads, which are approximately 350 meters apart, will be tied to one chlorination facility. The well water will be pumped to the upper storage tanks (to be constructed) through an existing line (to be repaired). The water will then be distributed through the current gravity-fed distribution system. Also, the Village plans to have zone meters installed at strategic locations within the community. By-laws are currently being reviewed to ensure all new homes have meters installed and that the by-law is enforceable. As the Village continues to collect water use data through its meters, a water model will be developed for the Village’s water system to enable system performance monitoring. The meters will also help the Village determine each connection’s water usage and the amount of water loss from the zone meter to the connection. This project will assist in reducing the number of boil alerts and in creating a safe water supply with little or no chance of contamination through natural means.
