Description

The city wants to reduce automobile traffic and minimize the greenhouse gas emissions city employees generate bydriving automobiles. The study is a partnership among the city, the Agence métropolitaine de transport and the Ministèredes transports du Québec. It will examine the feasibility of implementing an employer program in the workplace toencourage the use of alternative transportation methods. The city will survey employees to learn their commuting habits,gather workplace information including what pedestrian access and cyclist facilities are available, identify pilot sites forimplementing employer programs, and outline performance indicators and expected results. If implemented, theprogram could cut energy use, reduce greenhouse gases, smog and noise, and improve the quality of life for employees.
