Description

Denman Housing Association (DHA, est. 2012) is a registered charity that addresses affordable housing needs on Denman Island, British Columbia. The society will explore the development of 20 one, two and three-bedroom units within two-storey triplex and quadruplex buildings located on a 2.6-acre parcel of land. The proposed development would meet BC Energy Step Code Level 4 and Net Zero Energy standards. The housing development would integrate passive house and solar array systems, supported by a potential net metering arrangement with BC Hydro. The SAH grant will allow the applicant to advance municipal approval processes and site due diligence, as well as begin to incorporate sustainable building elements into detailed designs. This proposal will help position DHA for subsequent funding applications with FCM, BC Housing, CMHC and other funding sources. (Project description from original funding application)
