Description
This study will determine whether to clean the sewage gas and employ a proven Combined Heat and Powercogeneration technology at two treatment plants at Utilities Kingston. Currently, the sewage gas generated at thetreatment plants is not being cleaned sufficiently for gas engines and cannot take advantage of the benefits offered bythe more efficient technology. With sulphur largely remaining in the gas stream, the exhaust gas from the boilers beingused has a high sulphur content that pollutes the surrounding air. The proposed solution is expected to improve energyefficiency by about 60 per cent and reduce sulphur emissions. The power generated will also help cut greenhouse gasemissions.
