Description
Springfield Heritage Housing Inc. (SHHI, est. 2020) will assess new build net-zero energy ready options for a fully accessible and 100% affordable 50-unit assisted living complex for seniors in Springfield, Manitoba. The SAH planning grant will support the applicant in engaging engineers and architects on a set of strategies to achieve a minimum total energy use intensity of 80 kWh/m2. The engineers will review various cost-effective passive construction techniques, such as enhanced envelop, window-to-wall ratios and HVAC systems. Both sets of professionals will complete an energy model, cost estimate, and buildings systems investigation. Results from this planning grant will inform additional projects envisioned by the applicants. The outcomes from this funding initiative will help the organization access additional Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) Co-Investment funding well as FCM funding to support an eventual capital project.
