The grant recipient will implement initiatives that will increase the municipality’s capacity to adapt to climate change. The first phase will be to develop a climate change adaptation plan for the municipality. These plans identify climate change impacts, risks, and associated adaptation strategies or actions associated with the region, community, neighbourhood, or asset group. The second phase consists in implementing operational and institutional changes within the municipality in order to help ensure adaptation to climate change once the grant period ends. The final phase consists in completing the groundwork leading to the implementation of the climate change adaptation measures; the grant recipient will be required to put the planned measures into action during the grant period. In Year 1, the Recipient plans to: Research and gather information on climate change adaptationCreate a description of the local and regional territory and contextGather background information and analyze climate events specific to the territoryAnalyze climate projections specific to the territoryIdentify the impacts of climate change on the territoryHost an introductory meeting with stakeholders from the various departmentsPresent the project to RCM stakeholdersOrganize project kick-off meetings with stakeholdersAssign roles and responsibilities to stakeholders and provide the timelineIdentify items to be analyzed as part of the PlanIn Year 2, the Recipient plans to:Conduct a risk assessment of the impacts on the territoryPrioritize the risks identifiedIdentify and prioritize adaptation measuresWork with municipal departments to identify and prioritize adaptation measuresDevelop the implementation planIdentify follow-up actions for the implementation planWrite and revise the reportCreate the document (text and design)Communicate and disseminate the Plan
