Description

The City of Rossland will develop a Sustainable Strategic Plan and a creative planning process to deal with the environmental impacts of significant development pressure. This strategic plan and planning process will serve as a model for small rural communities experiencing rapid growth from resort-based real estate development. The Rossland sustainability plan will identify projects and activities to achieve sustainability goals related to watershed protection, potable water infrastructure, recreation facilities, sewer and stormwater infrastructure, road maintenance, and outdoor public spaces and parks. It will include measurable indicators for the goals; activities and projects for achieving them; and a long-term monitoring and evaluation plan. With the plan in place, the impact of current and future development on the quality of the air, water and soil will be reduced.
