Hastings Highlands Buildings & Facilities Strategy

The Hastings Highlands Buildings and Facilities Strategy will review the existing building, facilities and landsassessment report that provided a condition assessment of each of the over thirty (30) buildings andfacilities owned by the municipality, which was completed in 2016. It will also consider the recent buildingsand facilities risk assessment completed by the municipality's insurance provider.The first component of the strategy will focus on the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)and specifically what needs to be completed in order for each building and facility to be in both present andfuture compliance.The main consideration of the building inspection will be whether each individual building/facility is incompliance with current and future Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Legislation.The second component of the strategy will address present and future desired levels of service. Morespecifically, it will include reasonable tactics that take into consideration the financial liability and publicsafety associated with each individual building and facility's present level of service. An analysis, detailedrecommendations (in order of critical need) and costs will be included within the findings. The strategy willbe integrated into the municipality's longer term capital plan once completed.
