Description

The study would examine the feasibility of removing a tidal dam and pool structure from the Gorge waterway, returning acreek to its original alignment and establishing phyto-remediation to reduce contaminants in storm water flow. The creekrestoration would re-establish a habitat for native birds, animals and fish. Using native landscaping along the creekbanks would also establish a more natural park setting. This project would remove contaminants from water flowingthrough storm drains, improving water quality through a natural process. Restoring the natural look of the KinsmenGorge Park, where the tidal swimming pool was created and the creek was enclosed, would increase the opportunitiesfor water-related tourism in the area.
