Description
The City of Yellowknife wants to meet and exceed national guidelines for water quality and treatment. In 2002, itestablished a seven-year project plan for a pilot/feasibility study and the possible construction of a new full-range watertreatment plant. The study will evaluate new water treatment technologies and conduct an on-site pilot scale study of theselected technology over a two-year period, before the design and construction phase. The technologies being evaluatedinclude conventional filtration, cartridge filtration, membrane filtration and direct filtration. Rating criteria will includecapital costs, operational costs, environmental suitability and technical suitability.
