Description
The Municipality of South Dundas will conduct a Roads Needs Study. This study will provide a clear definition and inventory of all municipal roads. The study will establish such parameters as the surface condition, traffic, geometry, drainage, surface type, improvement history, maintenance classification for each road section. It will also inform Council on the existing condition and needs of their road system so staff can formulate the most cost-effective long term maintenance and construction strategy. The Municipality will also purchase an asset management software to efficiently manage and optimize its asset portfolio. The Municipality currently use Excel spreadsheets to track and maintain its asset register, and need to implement a software solution for all of its assets, which is a critical next step to managing its asset inventory. As part of the SDG Asset Management Working Group, the municipalities are selecting the same software for asset management to support each other in the future. Software implementation and training will also be provided in order to optimize the success and use of such a comprehensive system.
