Description
New Westminster plans to build a new main fire hall and administrative centre in 2001. A site has been chosen and apreliminary design completed. The city proposes a "Green Review" to ensure that the proposed building is both energyefficient and environmentally benign. The review will identify opportunities to respond to local and global environmentalconcerns, including resource conservation, habitat protection, and environmental sustainability in the new facility. Inaddition, a computerized energy model will be developed to estimate operating costs and pollutant emissions. The newbuilding will meet energy efficiency standards that go beyond current provincial standards or guidelines.
