Description

The City of Trois-Rivières, which is promoting hydrogen as a promising energy source, will establish a hydrogen platform that includes a supply, transportation, storage and utilization chain. The project will assess potential hydrogen production from biogas recovered from the Champlain landfill, as well as energetic hydrogen production from an electrolyzer supplied by a water-driven power station on the St. Maurice River. The project will show that an operation of this kind is a green, economically viable method to broaden public acceptance of sustainable solutions. The study on hydrogen storage and distribution will help more effectively define parameters for storage tank dimensioning and H2 gas compression modes. The hydrogen platform will improve air quality and eliminate greenhouse gas emissions resulting from internal combustion engine exhaust.
