Description
The grant-funded employee will implement initiatives that increase the municipality's capacity toadapt to climate change. The first phase of work will be to develop a climate adaptation plan forthe four participating municipalities. These plans identify climate change impacts, risks, andrelated adaptive strategies or actions related to the region, the community, a neighbourhood or agroup ofassets.Once the climate adaption plan is developed, the second phase of work will be to implementoperationaland institutionalchanges within the municipality that willhelp ensure long-term climateadaptation after the grant period.The final phase of work will involve preparatory work leading to the implementation of climateadaptations initiatives and the grant-funded staff person is required to move activities from theplanning stage to the implementation stage over the course of the grant period.In Year 1 , the Recipient plans toAssess the current situationCreate a vision for the climate mitigation and adaptation plansDevelop a climate mitigation and adaptation action planSubmit the action plan for approval by CouncilCreate a project steering committeePrepare and hold public consultationsConduct a GHG emissions inventory for the Village of GirouxvillePlan GHG emissions reduction activitiesIntegrate emissions reduction targets and objectives into municipal decision makingIn Year 2, the Recipient intends toIdentify opportunities for further projectsApply for funding of a feasibility studyDevelop measurement monitoring protocolsConnect with support organizations to gain guidance through the processCreate a system to track the performance of GHG emissions reduction actionsMonitor the effectiveness of tools to track GHG emissions reductionsImplementhe measurement and monitoring protocols
