Description
Greater Sudbury is implementing a comprehensive community energy plan to secure its energy supply and reduce itsannual energy costs of $400 million. Most energy expenditures leave the community and are a liability to long–termsustainability. By investing in power infrastructure such as a wind farm, the city will create a new energy and revenuestream to fund future environmental projects. The study will produce a business plan to develop a major wind farm with acapacity of at least 50 megawatts. It will assess the best wind turbine technology available and ensure its suitability. Thestudy would also support long–term economic development, research and development opportunities and contribute topublic education.
