Description
demand for vehicle trips (in particular, single-occupant passenger vehicles). In this study, the District of Saanich willdevelop and implement a TDM plan for all municipal facilities, including the Saanich Civic Centre (municipal hall, policeand fire), parks and public works yard, four community recreation centres and the municipally owned golf course. Themulti-phased TDM program will include baseline research and benchmarking, TDM strategy development, coordinatortraining, promotion and marketing and program evaluation criteria. Positive incentives will be used to encouragealternative travel modes, with incentives linked to employee wellness programs and improvements in service delivery tothe public. The result of this field test study will be an official TDM plan for the District of Saanich and a best practicesguide developed from the initiative, which will be made available to other local governments, the Capital Regional Districtand local employers.
