Description
A member of the Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program since 1994, the Town of Quispamsis will conduct a detailed energy audit and create a local action plan for its municipal facilities and vehicle fleet. To date, the Town has completed PCP milestone 1 for both corporate and community greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As part of PCP milestone 2, the Town set a corporate GHG emissions reduction target of 20 percent below 1994 levels, to be achieved by 2011. The study will be carried out over a three month period and will include a comprehensive list of activities including information gathering; public consultation; data collection; energy consumption analysis; development of an energy balance model; exploration of energy saving opportunities; analysis of municipal water and wastewater systems; analysis of the municipal vehicle fleet; and, completion of a local action plan. The Town estimates that if the PCP local action plan is implemented that yearly GHG emissions will be approximately 826 tonnes by the year 2011, representing a 20 percent decrease from 1994 levels.
