Description

The Lower Columbia Affordable Housing Society (LCAHS) is a non-profit society formed in 2013 to develop and operate affordable housing in B.C.’s Lower Columbia Region. The proposed project will redevelop a former middle school site into affordable housing. The Village of Fruitvale Council has committed to developing this parcel of land into affordable housing and will lease the land at a nominal sum to LCAHS for 60 years. SAH funding for this initiative will help LCAHS conduct a Phase 1 Environmental site assessment (ESA), a topographical survey, a civil engineering assessment and a funding viability assessment. Alongside secondary environmental benefits such as stormwater and sewer management, the project will target a Net Zero Energy Ready standard. (Project description from original funding application)
