Description

This feasibility study will assess the technical and financial feasibility of implementing a public urban transit system (nonecurrently exists) to provide a sustainable travel alternative to citizens using personal automobiles and to raise awarenessabout how citizens can contribute to their one tonne per person target. The study will apply a systems approach byproviding an alternative mode of transportation where none has previously existed; linking the proposed system withexisting “active transportation” infrastructure and existing transit modes (e.g. shuttle boat, inter-city mass transit);targeting a significant source of greenhouse gases; selecting a greenhouse gas reduction tactic that also addressessocial issues such as accessibility for all members of the population; and including the greenhouse gas contributions ofthe transit buses in calculations of overall net eCO2 benefits.
