Description
The Town of St. Andrews will develop a watershed management plan to identify pollution sources in its Chamcook watershed and recommend long-term solutions to water quality issues such as the presence of E. coli in untreated water and high turbidity during heavy rain. The scope of work will include: building a GIS model of the Chamcook watershed to use as a tool during the development of the watershed management plan; on-site data collection, identification of vulnerable areas, identification of regulatory infractions, and development of a technical guide with solutions and implementation measures. The plan will prioritize actions to reduce sedimentation by at least 30 percent, eliminate E. Coli contamination and help enforce New Brunswick’s Watershed Protected Area Designation Order under the Clean Water Act. With fewer sources of pollution, drinking water quality will improve and less treatment will be required.
