Description
The Town of Portugal Cove South will implement a three-phase Asset Management initiative. Phase 1includes the development of an Asset Register for fixed infrastructure assets utilizing a geographicalinformation system (GIS) and associated database. The Asset Register will include the Town's waternetworks as well as roads, trails, buildings, facilities and fleet. Phase 2 includes prioritizing the AssetRegister in terms of consequence of failure and probability of failure to determine each assets risk level.This will allow the Town to focus on highest risk assets first when planning capital projects. Phase 3 includesthe development of a Capital Plan and Asset Management Policy and will end with a workshop for bothCouncil and staff. Throughout the project multiple workshops will be held with Town staff, providing anopportunity to learn the basics of Asset Management concepts as well as the development of an AssetManagement Policy which will provide continuity and direction for the ongoing implementation of AssetManagement in the future.
